Uwe D. Staerz received BS degrees in Premed and Biochemistry from the Eberhard-Karls University in Tuebingen, Germany. He later received his MD from the same institution.

Uwe earned his PhD from the University of California before being appointed to serve on the faculty of the acclaimed National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine in Denver, Colorado. He taught at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center before co-founding Greffex, Inc., where he serves as Chairman and Chief Scientific Officer. He is a member of a Special Review Committee of the NIH on New Methods of Immune Intervention.
